Stay Smart Online Week a huge success
Stay Smart Online Week 2017 saw our videos on cyber safety tips with Marc Fennell viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
Launched in Sydney on Monday by the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security Dan Tehan, a highlight of the week was a video series on helpful cyber safety tips presented by tech guru Marc Fennell.
The videos were developed especially for Stay Smart Online Week 2017 and are available on our website and Facebook page. We encourage you to share these short and informative videos with your friends and family.
If more people are aware of the simple steps they can take to be safe online, the internet will be safer for everyone.
In the last 12 months we have seen a real shift in cyber activity, and more people than ever are at risk of cybercrime. The Australian Cyber Security Centre Threat Report 2017, launched during the week, shows 47,000 cyber security incidents were reported nationally in the 2016–17 period, a 15% increase on the previous year.
And the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Scamwatch figures show Australians have already lost $37 million to online scams since the start of 2017.
Please also tell your friends and family about our Alert service, which continues to inform people about current cyber threats and how to manage them.
