Cyber safety from the lounge room to the board room

20 September 2016

This years' theme is cyber safety from the lounge room to the board room, focusing on how individuals' online behaviours in their personal life can impact their workplace, and how there is a need for organisations to engage with their employees on online security awareness.

With 90% of Australians predicted to be online by next year, it's more important than ever to stay safe online.

Staying smart online can mean a variety of things, including:

  • choosing the right password and updating it regularly
  • frequently backing up your data
  • being aware of the latest online threats
  • knowing what is safe to put online
  • making sure your phones and computers are equipped with the right security.

As part of SSO Week, an updated Stay Smart Online Small Business Guide will be launched, along with two new products—an implementation guide and a guide for individuals. These were developed in partnership with Telstra, Australia Post, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac and National Australia Bank.

Over the next month, along with these guides, a range of additional online resources will be released including tips on how to better protect yourself online and case studies on how some of our partners prioritise their cyber safety.

In the meantime, sign up for our Alert Service to make sure you never miss out on important news about online threats and how they can be managed.

Would you like to be a partner?

Stay Smart Online Week first began in 2008 when the Australian Government partnered with 50 organisations to share the message of online safety with their communities. Today, we have over 1700 partners around Australia, and have also started sharing information across nations, including with our neighbours in New Zealand.

We are always on the lookout for more partners to help promote Stay Smart Online Week. In return, we will add your name and company logo to our growing list of partner organisations.

If your organisation is interested in becoming a Stay Smart Online partner, all you have to do is head to our partners page for more information.
