For most of us, the internet opens up new opportunities. We can shop, bank, research, work and connect when and where we want to. Unfortunately the online world also gives criminals opportunities to steal money, information or identities. For example, if you're not careful, you may find a loan being taken out in your name using stolen details.
So how do we reduce our risk of falling victim to online crimes?
The Australian Government's Stay Smart Online initiative has developed a short guide to help individuals put in place some basic online security habits. My Guide helps you stay smart online so you can avoid falling victim to scammers.
The Guide has been developed in collaboration with the New Zealand Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet along with Australia Post, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, NBN, Westpac and Telstra.
