Change your Citrix GoToMyPC password following security alert

Priority Level:
21 June 2016

Citrix has been targeted with a 'very sophisticated password attack,' and is advising all users of its remote desktop sharing application GoToMyPC to reset their passwords and enable 2-step verification. You will be required to reset your GoToMyPC password before you can login again. It is important to note that you may be blocked from accessing the official GoToMyPC website according to your corporate IT policies.

It is not clear at this stage what information has been compromised. Reset your password through the 'Forgot Password' link if you are having trouble logging into your account.

This warning follows our earlier alert about TeamViewer, which offers a similar product, about reusing passwords.

Staying safe

Change your Citrix GoToMyPC password immediately to help minimise your risk. Stay Smart Online has guidelines on choosing strong passwords that cannot easily be guessed.

Strong passwords should be:

  • greater than 10 characters long
  • a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and other symbols.

Do not include:

  • recognisable words or names, in any language
  • repeated characters
  • personal information
  • anything you have previously used.

For small businesses
