The internet is a fun and useful tool that brings the whole world into your home. We use the internet for all kinds of things live chats and email, to shopping, banking and even social networking. But not everyone on the internet is our friend. That's right, there's someone you should be aware of the cyber criminal. Their mission is to get inside your computer and wreak havoc.

Risk one the virus

They could send you a nasty virus that could then be sent to your friends computers.

Risk two spyware

Or worse still, they could plant information seeking spyware programs to collect and then exploit your personal information.

But there is an easy way to stop the cyber criminal. Simply take the time to secure your computer in three simple steps:

  • Step one install anti-virus software to stop viruses in their tracks;
  • Step two install anti-spyware software to disarm rogue spyware programs from stealing your personal information; and finally
  • Step three to stop it all happening in the first place, set-up a firewall. This is like installing a security door to your computer and monitors the information coming in and out of your computer.

And remember to really make the most of your software by regularly updating it and get in the habit of running scans to detect computer problems.
