Cyber-safety information for parents
The internet is an essential tool for all Australians, including children. However, while the internet has created substantial benefits for children, it can also expose them to a number of dangers, including illegal and prohibited content.
In May 2008 the Government committed to a comprehensive range of cyber-safety measures, including law enforcement, filtering and education. This includes:
- developing and implementing Internet Service Provider (ISP) filtering
- implementing a comprehensive range of cyber-safety education initiatives
- expanding the Consultative Working Group
- establishing a Youth Advisory Group, and
- supporting research into the changing digital environment.
